The Bayfield family insignia is a sword covered in ivy.
Natalie Bayfield[]
As well as the main character of the story, Natalie is the youngest member of the Bayfield famiy. She has thick, curly brown/gold hair, with brown eyes. Though being only thirteen, she looks to be older, about fifteen, with an angular face and sharp features. She's the odd one out of the family, with Downworlders as best friends, but doesn't let stereotypes tell her who to be friends wtih and who to hate. An extremely independent girl, doesn't like to be told what to do, can be sassy and snarky and totally arogant.
Adam Bayfield[]
The second youngest Bayfield, Adam is the older brother to Natalie, and the prime source of her constant irritation, crabbiness and stress. He lives to irritate his sister, and because of that, Natalie constantly snaps, and is constantly grounded for things she didn't do. Adam is sine marcam, which is Latin for without Mark - it means that Adam, while having Shadowhunter blood, cannot bear Marks, therefore he can never slay demons or fight in battle. The only Mark Adam will ever be able to bear is the Sine rune, where the Voyance rune would generally be, on the back of the right hand. Adam is your typical teenage boy - he practically lives in his room, his XBox controller practically welded to his hand, and eats at least 10,000 calories a day without getting a single pound heavier. He's constantly being teased by Natalie over the fact that he has mundane friends.
Nasha Bayfield[]
The mother to Adam and Natalie, wife to Ron Bayfield, Nasha is constantly feared by her children. She is a harsh, old-fashioned Shadowhunter, believing firnly in manners - but having two teenage children contradicts that. She lived in Idris her whole life, up until three years ago when she was offered to run the Detroit Institute, after it's original owners passed away. She accepted. Nasha Bayfield, born Herondale, is constantly reminded of her family's past alleigance with the Circle, and is constantly trying to prove that she feels no hatred to the Clave as her anscestors once did. It's one of the things that's made her so fierce and hateful.
Ronal Bayfield[]
Ronald spends his time divided between tutoring his children, locked up away in his study, and cooking meals, as no one else in the family has any cooking talent. Though he loves his wife very much, he also fears her, and likes to avoid her when he can and stay on her good side when he can't. As the chren already have a harsh parent, he settles for being the cool one, the kind, gentle and understand father.
